Artist: William Sweetlove

William Sweetlove (Belgian, b. 1949) is one of the most celebrated artists within the Flemish art scene. Inspired by works that interpret the object as a conceptual idea, like those of Marcel Duchamp and Joseph Beuys, Sweetlove incorporates synthetic materials, specifically resin, into his paintings and uses it for sculptural pieces. Known most recently for his “water wars” series, he depicts cloned animals that have been bred to survive a dystopian future brought about by ecological disaster.
